Discovery Learning- Early Childhood Homeschool
Welcome to Early Childhood Homeschool Discovery Learning! Here you will find various articles, activities and even blogs of what I do with my Early childhood learners. This age is the age of adventure, curiosity and discovery learning.
Prewriting and the Preschooler: Field Trip Book :
Ever want to help your smaller child use their imagination and share their adventures? Pack a kid friendly digital camera (or your i-pad) to the next field trip and let them take the pictures! You both can then go into shutterfly or other book making website, and create their own story of the day. Let them tell you about the day. Here is an example Princess Pearl Made when she was just 3! Zoo Book You can read about it here: Memory Maker
Snow Fun!
Ever wonder what to do on the snow days with little hands? Some outside snow play is always fun and exciting, but what can you do when it is around for days on end, and the kiddos need a break from the cold temperatures?
We brought the snow in and put it in the bath tub. This allows them to enjoy the cold and do some experiment with hot and cold. Run some warm water over it, let them use kitchen items to measure and play with the snow like it is in the sandbox.
We clean our table and counters with shaving cream and a warmer sensory fun. This is really simple and allows them to practice the writing and drawing skills. Be careful not to do this on wood tables!
“Eggs”elent Learning: Fun with Easter Eggs
With being super busy around Easter time, and the calm before Summer when you are rushing to do “spring cleaning” and prepare for next school year. I have compiled a list of fun learning activities to do with those plastic eggs before you ditch them. From early literacy to math, to motor play, tons of learning was happening as we played our way through it!
